FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FOOD TECH ATTENDS CABOT/MALONE PROPERTIES
DEDICATION
Montpelier, VT, September 20, 2004 –
On September 8, 2004, engineering/construction management
firm Food Tech Structures, LLC, attended the dedication
ceremony for a new Cabot Creamery Distribution Center
in Montpelier, Vermont. The 63,000 square foot facility,
which was designed and constructed by Food Tech for Patrick
Malone of Malone Properties, will allow for the consolidation,
storage, selection and distribution of all Cabot and McCadam
label products from a single location. The Cabot and McCadam
brands are owned by Agri-Mark, the Northeast’s leading
dairy farmer cooperative.
“Cabot Creamery’s
growth is really remarkable,” says Food Tech Senior
Vice President David Wittliff, adding that this factor
played a role in the design and construction of the new
facility. “For example, the Distribution Center
features pallet slots that are bar coded and numbered
in anticipation of a new warehouse management system for
inventory tracking and order selection,” he says. |

Jim Pratt, Cabot’s Senior Vice President of Operations,
agrees. “Increasing demand for Cabot brand products
was the driving force behind this new facility,” he
says. “Not only does the new Distribution Center allow
us to more efficiently meet existing needs, it has also been
designed to accommodate projected growth well into the future.”
Wittliff adds that the facility was also designed and constructed
to comply with the State of Vermont’s demanding Energy
Efficiency Guidelines, and features a single stage ammonia
refrigeration system, with frequency drives on the compressor
and condenser motors, to minimize energy usage.
