FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FOOD TECH COMPLETES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION OF BARBER FOODS PROCESSING & WAREHOUSE FACILITY

Portland, ME, December 8, 2005 – Massachusetts-based planning, engineering and construction firm Food Tech Structures has completed design and construction of a multi-phase, 210,000 square foot processing facility for Barber Foods, manufacturer of innovative chicken entrees, appetizers and snacks, in Portland, Maine.

The project involved converting Barber Foods' newly acquired Milliken Road warehouse, the former SuperValu distribution center, to a distribution freezer and corporate office facility, and was completed in two phases.

Phase I included renovations of 17,000 square feet of corporate office space, 60,000 square feet of freezer and 13,000 square feet of cooler area. Upon its completion, the corporate office staff relocated from Barber's St. John Street location in Portland to the newly refurbished office areas on Milliken Road . Barber also consolidated raw material and finished product operations from St. John Street into the newly renovated freezer space.

During Phase II, a portion of the remaining building was converted into raw process areas for the preparation of materials to be used at the St. John Street facility.

“The new location features easy access to I-95, a large site that allows for future growth, and an existing structure that proved to be adaptable to conversion from warehouse space to a production facility,” says Food Tech Senior Vice President David S. Wittliff, P.E.

"The team from Food Tech did an excellent job working with us in the design and retrofit of our new Milliken Street facility," says Stephen Barber, President and CEO of Barber Foods.
